Building the Village Around Every Student

At the heart of Gary’s progress is a powerful, intentional partnership: Gary Alumni Partnership for Students (GAPS) and the Gary Community School Corporation (GCSC). This is not a one-time collaboration. It’s an ongoing, strategic relationship designed to create real-world opportunities for every student.

GCSC provides the educational foundation—students, classrooms, dedicated educators, and school leadership. GAPS brings the power of alumni, community partners, and external resources into the picture. Together, we build a bridge between classroom learning and life beyond the diploma.

Each year, GAPS sits down with school leaders, including the Chief Academic Officer, principals, teachers, and staff, to identify the specific needs of every school. From there, we design or source programming to meet those needs—whether that means career fairs, mentorship, college prep, or family engagement. These aren’t one-size-fits-all solutions. They’re purpose-built pathways to student success.

A Village Aligned Around Readiness

The College & Career Readiness School Community Alliance

The College and Career Readiness (CCR) School Community Alliance is a critical part of the village that supports Gary students as they prepare for life beyond high school. The Alliance brings together schools, community organizations, and workforce partners around a shared commitment: ensuring every student graduates with clarity, confidence, and real options for their future.

Working in close partnership with GAPS and the Gary Community School Corporation, the CCR Alliance helps align college preparation, career exposure, workforce development, and student support services into a more coordinated experience for students and families. Rather than operating in silos, partners collaborate to reduce duplication, close gaps, and strengthen pathways into college, trades, military service, and careers.

The CCR Alliance is guided by an Executive Committee that provides leadership, accountability, and strategic direction for this collective work. Together, these leaders help ensure that readiness is not left to chance, but built intentionally through shared goals, data-informed practices, and strong relationships.

Through the CCR Alliance, GAPS extends its impact by helping the entire community move in the same direction—so students don’t just graduate, they move forward prepared and supported.
