Level Up Tutoring- 8-12 week tutoring sessions based on school needs.
SAT Prep Academy- In-school SAT preparation through Khan Academy, complemented by instructor-led boot camps in partnership with Gear Up.
Purdue First-Year Conference Event- Workshops for Freshmen & Sophomore success.
JA Finance Park- Hands-on financial literacy experience for WSLA students.
Girls on The Run- Mentoring program for 3rd-8th grade girls focused on social and emotional growth.
Boys Huddle Group- Male mentorship program for 7th-8th grade boys
Entrepreneurs Club- A partnership with IronWorkz providing business education and entrepreneurial training at WSLA.
Media Mastermind Club- Guiding students in responsible digital citizenship, journalism, film, podcasting, and drone technology.
Cybersecurity Club- In collaboration with security expert Jeffrey Edwards, introducing students to online safety and cybersecurity careers.
STEM Discovery Club- Hands-on STEM activities at Bailey Middle School and Williams, focusing on robotics, coding, and science exploration.
College & Career Readiness
Career Coaching- Personalized guidance to help students explore career paths, develop professional skills, and prepare for the workforce or higher education.
Scholarship Fairs- Opportunities for students to connect with organizations offering scholarships, gain insights on financial aid, and receive application support.
Middle School Career Fairs- Interactive events introducing middle school students to various careers, inspiring early career exploration and goal setting.
High School Career Day- A dynamic event where professionals share insights into their industries, helping high school students understand career options and workforce expectations.
College Tour- Guided visits to colleges and universities, giving students firsthand exposure to campus life, academic programs, and admissions requirements.
Decision Day- A celebratory event recognizing high school seniors’ commitments to colleges, trade schools, or the military, reinforcing the importance of post-secondary plans.
Summer Melt Program- Support for recent high school graduates to ensure a smooth transition to college by addressing financial aid, enrollment steps, and other pre-college requirements.
Community Engagement
Presidential Inauguration- GAPS co-sponsored two WSLA students to attend the 47th inaugural ceremonies in Washington, D.C.
Bailey Middle School- Funding STEM activities, student uniforms, and transportation for educational outings.
Community Art Project- A grant-funded initiative featuring murals of historical Gary influencers, created by students and displayed across the city.
Formal Attire Giveaway– Provides free prom attire and accessories to students in need, helping them create lasting memories without financial stress.
